Conemaugh Township is a
independent local government operating as a second class township. Township
business is directed by three elected supervisors who serve for six year
terms. Policy decisions and expenditures are made at public meetings held
the first monday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Conemaugh
Township Municipal Building at 104 Janie St.

Conemaugh Township maintains a full time Police
Department and Road Crew. Pictured are the the plow truck and street sweeper.
The Township provides some support to an independent Volunteer Fire and
Ambulance Company, the Cover Hill Volunteer Fire Company.
Conemaugh Township is one of the few local municipalities still providing municipal garbage collection service. Efficient crews and well defined collection routes combine to make garbage fees in Conemaugh Township (mandatory) the lowest in the Greater Johnstown area. Conemaugh Township was the first municipality in the Conemaugh Township area to institute a recycling program. Recycling was instituted as a cost saving measure to cut down on landfill fees.
We have an active Planning
Commission, Zoning Hearing Board and Recreation Commission.
Residents are encouraged to take part in Township activities.
Township residents send
their children to the Conemaugh Valley School District which serves four
municipalities, East Taylor Township, Conemaugh Township, Franklin Borough
and East Conemaugh Borough.
